2003 Chevrolet ACH: Location of Expansion Tube?

On 2003 Chevy Model.
The expansion block/orifice tube is located inside the evaporator tube. You will need a special tool: J 26549-E Orifice Tube Remover - to remove the orifice tube from the evaporator tube.
You can usually rent this tool from any local "big chain" parts store.

How To Replace Evaporator Core Orifice On Ford Ranger?

The Evaporator Core Orifice replacing for ford Ranger is as follows:---

Evaporator Core Orifice Removal & Installation Procedure is mentioned below:----


  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Recover the refrigerant.
  3. Disconnect the condenser-to-evaporator line fitting at the evaporator inlet tube. Discard the O-ring seals.
  4. Inspect the evaporator core orifice for damage before attempting to remove it from the evaporator core inlet line.

  5. If the evaporator core orifice is intact, engage the Fixed Orifice Remover/Installer. Hold the T-handle stationary while rotating the tool body to remove the evaporator core orifice
  6. If the evaporator core orifice is broken, screw the end of the Broken Orifice Remover into the broken orifice. Hold the T-handle stationary while rotating the tool body to remove the evaporator core orifice.

To install:
  1. Lubricate the evaporator core orifice O-ring seals with clean PAG oil and install the evaporator core orifice using the Fixed Orifice Remover/Installer.

  2. Install new O-ring seals and connect the condenser-to-evaporator line fitting at the evaporator inlet tube
  3. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. R-134a Refrigerant Fill Capacity: 2.07 lbs.
