1998 Ford Expedition: Will not Shift Out of Park?

The Shifter will not release out of park mode.Vehicle stuck up in park and not move to drive mode or go to reverse.

First the few basics needs to be inspected.

When the shifter will not release from Park, first- Check your rear brake lights and see if they are working when you step on the brake pedal.

If the brake lights are NOT working, check your fuses.
Now if the fuses are good, and still no brake lights, the problem will be the Brake Light Switch.
The switch is located at the top of the brake peal arm.
See the Exact location diagram of Brake light Switch shown below:----

This switch controls the rear brake lights, and also sends a signal to the Shift Interlock telling it to release when the brake pedal is depressed. Inspect the electrical connector for any loose, broken or damaged wires. If the visual inspection checks ok, replacing the switch will solve your problems.

The above mentioned in one possibility.But now think other way.
If the brake lights ARE working,then in that case the problem will be in the Shift Interlock system. Very commonly, this a Shift Interlock Solenoid problem. This solenoid is located on the steering column.
First Inspect the electrical connector for any loose, broken or damaged wires. If the visual inspection checks ok, suspect a faulty solenoid.

2007 Hyundai Santa Fe: Will not Shift out of Park Mode?

Tranny Stuck up in Park mode,will not shift out of park mode.

Gears will not shift to drive or reverse mode.No forward or backward.

Try Pushing the shift release and see if the gears are getting drive mode o not.

When the vehicle cannot be shifted from Park, first- Check the rear brake lights and see if they are working when you step on the brake pedal.

If the lights are NOT working, check the fuse labeled "STOP LP" in the driver's side fuse box. If the fuse is good, and still no brake lights, then the problem is going to be the Stop Lamp Switch located at the top of the brake pedal arm. This switch controls the brake lights, and also sends a signal to the shift interlock telling it to release when the brake pedal is depressed. Inspect the electrical connector for any loose, broken or damaged wires. If the visual inspection checks ok, replacing the switch will solve the problem.

But if the brake lights are working, then the problem will be in the Interlock Control Module (aka ATM Key Lock Control Module). This module is located behind the center dash.

Vehicle noticed sluggish delayed shifts while driving?

Late shift.
Delayed shift.
Car shifting gears very late.Gear shift issue on vehicle.

In this types of problem,the transmission needs to be inspected.

Transmission Modulator.Its in Automatic transmission.A Mis-Adjusted, Disconnected, Faulty Modulator Valve can cause this problem.

Inspect transmission fluid level.Incorrect transmission fluid or contaminated transmission fluid or low transmission fluid can cause this.

A faulty Automatic transmission shift linkage problem.A worn out or faulty shift linkage can cause the problem.

And last but not the least a problem with transmission itself.A internal dame with transmission assembly and parts can cause this problem.

Getting this possibilities checked and inspected will help you to confirm the problem.
