Maximas use a gear reduction starter which has a set of ratio reduction gears; the brushes on the gear reduction starter are located on a plate behind the starter drive housing. The extra gears make the starter pinion gear turn at about 1 / 2 the speed of the starter, giving the starter twice the turning power of a conventional starter.

How to replace Starter on Infiniti Q45?

The car battery terminal connects to starter motor.The starter gets power from car battery.When you turn on the car the battery gives power to starter and strater in reply turns on.If starter is weak or faulty ,it will not turn on,it will not engage and it has to be replaced.
The procedure to replace starter motor for Infiniti q45 is as follows :-----

Basically starter comes out from under the Infiniti car.But as per service manual,there is other procedure too.

4.1L Engine

1. Before servicing the vehicle.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   Negative battery cable,Steering gear and linkage assembly Harness connector,Starter retainers,Starter. 

To install: 
Install or connect the following: 
Starter Starter retainers. Tighten the starter retainers to 30-37 ft. lbs. (40-50 Nm).Harness connector,Steering gear and linkage assembly,Negative battery cable. 

Alternate procedure:---

1. Remove or disconnect the following:
   Negative battery cable Engine undercover Harness connectors Starter motor mounting bolt and nut 
2. Remove engine mounting insulator bottom nuts, and lift engine approximately 2 inches with a transmission jack
3. Remove starter motor

To install: 

1. Installation is in reverse order of removal; observe torque values shown in diagram

Rear oil seal leaking?

If the oil seal is leaking,then it has to be inspected and replaced.To replace oil seal,the transmission and starter has to be removed.Its not very hard task,but you should have proper tools and experience to do this.
If you have a minor leak you may be able to cure it with AT205, a seal swell made by the ATP company. I have seen this seal swell do miracles with many different fluid leaks - it is not cheap but if it can't fix it, only a wrench can!!! I suggest adding at least 2 pints to your motor and see if it stops it. Failing that, the job is relatively easy if you have a lift and the proper tools. If no lift, but a concrete floored garage, it is not so bad with a rolling floor jack. Alignment is always a problem so removing the bolts for the motor mounts and having 2 rolling jacks will help lots.With the proper tools and equipment, this job is not hard. the automatic transmission can be heavy, so a good floor jack with a transmission adaptor would help. You will need to support the engine while the tranny is out. make sure you mark the driveshaft where it attaches to the rear end so that it gets installed in the same position. You will also need to support the transmission while your removing the cross member that holds the transmission up.A person that has a fair amount of tools and a little more than basic knowledge should be able to accomplish this in one day.

This problem is faced by many other car users too.
The likely problem is your ignition switch. There is a separate set of contacts in the switch for powering the ignition when the key is turned to start. Check for power to the coil when the key is turned to start. If no power, replace the switch.
Sounds like the ignition switch has gone kaput. The ignition switch come in two pieces, an electrical switch and a mechanical switch.
The switch electrical portion can be replaced separatly from the mechanical portion (tumbler that the key engages). It is not a real difficult repair but requires some mechanical knowlege of how the column is assembled.
The ignition switch is located at the bottom of the ignition key cylinder body. To remove the ignition switch, first remove the ignition lock cylinder.
