Transmission problem?

Gear not shifting,transmission stuck,gear slips etc etc problems are basically noticed.

If this transmission has a problem all the time, it's likely mechanical and inside the transmission.

If you have an intermittant problem, it's probably electrical.

This system runs on tiny electrical currents. So water in a connector will cause caos.

I put dielectric grease in every connector when I put something together. This displaces the water and eliminates corrosion. I have never had a problem with a connection after doing this. Plus two or three years from now, you can get the connections apart without a crow bar.

So I would recommend that you take apart the TPS connector, speed sensor connector, solenoid connector, OD switch connector, and neutral start switch connector and grease them up. But only use dielectric grease. Any good auto parts store has it. One tube will last 15 years.

Ford Taurus wont shift from park?

Car stuck in park mode or not getting to drive mode,gear shift problems.This are all very common problem faced by many other cars too.
The park in this model is locked out by a pin, that pin is pulled back by an electric solenoid that is powered by the you guessed it, the brake lights. You either have a defective brake light switch (located above the brake pedal) or the connector to the switch is defective due to a broken conductor inside the wires plastic out insulating cover. It is a fairly cheap repair, You can override the lock out by turning the ignition key cylinder half way to the run position and wiggling the shifter at the same time, it may take a few tries but you can get it out of part this way.

This problems are very much noticed in cars,that tranny/transmission will not shift to drive mode or 3rd gear,but will shift to reverse,2nd gear and first gear.
Mostly your problem indicates towards this issue.The transmission in this car is shifted by electric solenoids and they are controlled by a computer, so the very 1st thing that must be done here to start the diagnostic check of the cause is to have the computer scanned for fault codes related to the transmission, you could just have a defective shift solenoid. Aamco Transmission shops will scan the system computer for free and give you a free preliminary diagnosis of what might be needed to repair your shifting problems.
