The car is Audi 2.0 TDI model and year is 2009.
In this case the problem is indicating towards transmission. The automatic transmission needs to be removed to check/inspect the problem.
On front wheel drive model.
The lower steering shaft coupling will have to be removed from the pinion. You can use/apply some sort of tape or other method of holding the steering wheel in place, or marking the coupling to pinion position with paint. According to my information, the rack does not need to be removed completely. Also, the upper bellhousing bolts are more easily accessed from up above. In addition, no need to remove the hydraulic line from the slave cylinder, just remove the cylinder still attached to the line.

This will give you enough room to inspect the position of noise.
You can continue your troubleshooting further, once the noise making component is located.
