1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee: Procedure to replace Blower Motor Resistor?

How to replace Blower motor resistor.

Many car owners with less knowledge about car repairs and parts replacement.Remove complete glove box to replace blower motor resistor.

BUT actually,There is no need to remove the glove box to access the resistor. If equipped, you only need to remove the insulator panel (the panel right above where the passenger's feet would be). There are a few small screws around the perimeter holding this panel in place. From there, you should have a clear shot.

See the help diagram shown below:--------

blower motor and resistor

Just follow this simple process:----

-Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
-Remove the blower motor resistor connector(s).
-Remove the resistor retaining screws.
-Remove the blower motor resistor.

This details will help.
Thanks.

Honda Civic Blower Motor Only works on high mode?

This is common problem, faced on many other car models too.
It could be the switch, but it's usually the resistor. Remove the glove box and unscrew the resistor from the top of the blower housing. Pull the resistor out and inspect for heat damage.Resistor is the blower motor fan speed controller, except high mode.So when blower motor resistor fail's,high mode works, but other modes don't function.

This basic details will help.Thanks.

Dodge Caravan AC Heater Control only works on high mode?

This problem is very much noticed and seen on many other car models too.
The most common cause is that an electrical device called the blower motor resistor block, has failed. This device provides all the slower speeds. It is generally mounted in the HVAC [Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning] box, very close to the blower motor. FYI, we mechanics call the fan motor inside the cabin the blower motor. The electric fan motor behind the radiator is called the cooling fan motor.
If the resistor block is OK, then you have either a bad fan speed switch or a melted electrical connector at that switch. 95% of the time, the resister block is the problem.

This basic details will help.Thanks.

Where is Blower motor resistor located on 2006 Ford F 250?

Blower motor resistor controls the blower motor fan speeds.
It is just inboard [towards the center of the truck] of the blower motor. You have to look behind the Air Conditioning accumulator. The blower resistor is mounted with two screws and has an electrical plug connected to it.
Buy proper branded auto parts, instead on local non branded parts. The Original parts lasts long and give good results.
This results will help.Thanks.

Why does blower motor resistor burns out on 2005 Chevrolet Colorado?

This problem is noticed my many others too.I think you replaced parts from local auto part store. Its not always that local part store will not work. But in some cases original parts are required. And for this resistor getting burn problem,There is an updated part available from GM.For the same issue. It's all about the connector and wiring. Also, the actual cause of the burnups turned out to be a faulty blower motor which was drawing too many amps and was overheating the wiring at the motor causing it to burn up the resistor and scorch the connector. Change the motor. Use ACDELCO motor only. This details will help you out,for resolving the blower motor resistor getting burn out again n again.
