Headliner REMOVAL and INSTALLATION on ford vehicles?

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Ranger
  1. Remove both sun visors.
  2. Remove the assist handles if equipped.
  3. Remove the upper windshield garnish molding.
  4. Remove the front pillar moldings.
  5. Remove the coat hooks.
  6. Remove the lower back window garnish molding.
  7. Remove the rear corner trim panels.
  8. Remove the dome lamp lens and lamp assembly.
  9. Carefully remove the headliner from the truck.

To install:
  1. If replacing the headliner, preshape the replacement one along the score marks to about the same shape as the original.
  2. Install the headliner to the roof of the truck.
  3. Install the dome lamp assembly.
  4. Install the rear corner trim panels and related items.
  5. Install the lower back window garnish molding.
  6. Install the coat hooks.
  7. Install the front pillar moldings.
  8. Install the upper windshield garnish molding.
  9. Install the assist handles and sun visors.

  1. Remove both sun visors and visor arm clips.
  2. Remove the assist handles and coat hooks.
  3. Remove the front pillar inside moldings
  4. Remove the push pin at the roof centerline.
  5. On 4-door models, remove the "B" pillar upper moldings.
  6. Remove the top seat belt anchor cover and the anchor itself.
  7. Remove the body side trim panels.
  8. Remove the dome lamp and cargo lamp assemblies.
  9. Remove the push pin retainers above the front doors, at the rear edges and at mid-vehicle.

If the original headliner is being reinstalled, install "U" channel reinforcements along the outboard edges; these will prevent damage to the headliner. These pieces are sometimes used in shipping containers.

  1. Carefully remove the headliner from the truck.

To install:
  1. Install the headliner to the roof. If you are installing a new headliner, leave the "U" channel reinforcements in place until the retaining pins are secured.
  2. Install the lamp assemblies.
  3. Install the front outboard locating push pins, then install the remaining ones. If installing a new headliner, remove the "U" reinforcements.
  4. Install the body side trim panels.
  5. Install the top seat belt anchor and cover.
  6. On 4-door models, install the "B" pillar upper moldings. Install the push pins at the roof centerline.
  7. Install the coat hooks.
  8. Install the front pillar inside moldings.
  9. Install the assist handles.
  10. Install the sun visors and arm clips.
