How to remove Rear Suspension Trailing Arm on Honda odyssey?

Removal & Installation



2001-04 Models
  1. Raise the rear of the vehicle, and support it with safety stands in the proper locations.
  2. Remove the brake drum or brake disc/drum.
  3. Remove the parking brake cable from the trailing arm.
  4. Remove the brake hose mounting bolts from the trailing arm.
  5. Position a floor jack at the connecting point of the lower arm and the knuckle.
  6. Remove the flange bolts (A) and (B) from the trailing arm.

  7. Install the trailing arm in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:


    1. Tighten all mounting hardware to the specified torque values.
    2. Check the brake hose and line joint for leaks, and tighten if necessary.
    3. Check the brake hose for interference and twisting.
    4. Before installing the wheel, clean the mating surfaces on the brake drum or the drum in brake disc and the inside of the wheel.
    5. Fill up the brake reservoir, and bleed the brake system.
    6. After installation, check for leaks at the line joint, and retighten if necessary. Check the rear wheel alignment, and adjust it if necessary.


2005-06 Models
  1. Raise the rear of the vehicle, and support it with safety stands in the proper locations.
  2. Remove the rear wheel.
  3. Remove the brake disc.
  4. Remove the parking brake cable from the trailing arm.
  5. Remove the brake hose mounting nut from the trailing arm.
  6. Position a floor jack at the connecting point of the lower arm and the knuckle.
  7. Remove the self-locking nuts (A) and bolts (B) from the trailing arm.

  8. Install the trailing arm in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

    Use a new self-locking nut on reassembly.
    First install all the components and lightly tighten the bolts and nuts, then raise the suspension to load it with the vehicle's weight before fully tightening to the specified torque values.
    Tighten all mounting hardware to the specified torque values.
    Check the brake hose and line joint for leaks, and tighten if necessary.
    Check the brake hose for interference and twisting.
    Before installing the wheel, clean the mating surfaces on the brake disc/drum and the inside of the wheel.
    Fill up the brake reservoir, and bleed the brake system.
    After installation, check for leaks at the line joint, and retighten if necessary. Check the rear wheel alignment, and adjust it if necessary.
