Engine wont start on 1996 Pontiac Sunfire?

Inspect the battery cables. If the battery cables are dirty or got loose then it can be the cause of problem.
If you think there is an issue with battery cables, replace them. How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? If it won't crank, check voltage at the starter. The purple wire at the starter solenoid should go hot with key in the crank position. The bat terminal at the starter is hot all the time. Any testing, make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and the e-brake is set.
This above mentioned details will help.
Thanks.
