PLEASE HELP.PTO SWITCH ON MY MOWER GETTING SHORT
AGAIN N AGAIN.I REPLACED PTO SWITCH THRICE IN 4 MONTHS.
WHY PTO SWITCH IS NOT LASTING LONG?
This problem is common and faced by many others too.
The best way to keep the switches and pto working best is with a really good battery. These PTO's suffer if there is not enough juice coming to them. They will turn on and off and on and off cycling when the power is a bit weak on the battery. (hopefully charging system is working correctly). Also, Always, and I mean always, run the engine at full speed (not 3/4 or half). This is the Only way that there will be enough current coming from the engine to charge the battery and properly operate the electric PTO.It is also the only way to make sure the engine is cooling correctly.(more cooling gas flows through, more air comes through, more air is moved faster by the fins, more oil is moved around). Also, you will let your transmission last longer as it will have the same speed using lower gearing. You will have a better cut because of higher blade tip speed. I also suggest using a tiny trickle charger on the battery to keep it full up between cuts. Don;t buy cheap replacement batteries. They will make the problem worse. Also, you may have a PTO that is getting ready to go out and is putting more resistance on the switch.------------
