  1. Hi, I am in the process of head gasket job on 1997 Toyota Previa, wish I wasn't but I've started now.
Engine is on the floor striped to this point, but I am having difficulty removing the cam chain cover. I can see that the water pump is chain driven from the crank or so it looks but how can this be removed in order to remove the cover? Any tips on this job in general would be most appreciated. Regards, Will. willbastin12@hotmail.co.uk

  2. On another thought... Do I even need to remove the whole cam cover or can I just release the pre-tensioner and push cam end of the chain to one side and remove the cylinder head?

  3. Thanks for the links. I'm assuming that the cam sprocket has the be removed from the shaft and left in place as i cant get enough slack on the chain. Is there a link to cam shaft removal instructions? Regards.
