2003 Chevrolet ACH: Location of Expansion Tube?

On 2003 Chevy Model.
The expansion block/orifice tube is located inside the evaporator tube. You will need a special tool: J 26549-E Orifice Tube Remover - to remove the orifice tube from the evaporator tube.
You can usually rent this tool from any local "big chain" parts store.

How To Replace Evaporator Core Housing On Ford Ranger?

The Evaporator Core Housing replacing details are follows:----

Removal & Installation of Evaporator Core Housing Procedure is mentioned below:----

NOTE

The evaporator core is not separately serviceable, it is serviced only with the evaporator core housing assembly.

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

All vehicles

1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Recover the refrigerant.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
4. Remove the suction accumulator.

Vehicles with 2.3L engine

1. Remove the A/C compressor.
2. Remove the engine oil indicator and tube.

Vehicles with 3.0L and 4.0L engines

1. Position the coolant reservoir and windshield washer reservoir aside.
2. Remove the 2 screws and 2 nuts.

3. Position the reservoirs aside.

Vehicles with speed control

1. Disconnect the speed control actuator electrical connector.

2. Remove the speed control actuator bolt and position the actuator aside.
3. Detach the speed control cable from the evaporator core housing.

All vehicles

1. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
2. Disconnect the blower motor resistor electrical connector.
3. Release the 2 heater hose clamps and disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
4. Detach the pin-type retainer and position the windshield washer hose aside
5. Disconnect and detach the heater control valve vacuum hose.
6. Disconnect the vacuum supply hose near the evaporator core housing.
7. Disconnect the evaporator inlet fitting. Discard the O-ring seals.
   
   NOTE

   The following step is carried out at the lower passenger side dash panel, inside the passenger compartment.
8. Disconnect the vacuum hose connector and remove the nut.

Vehicles with 4.0L engine

1. If equipped, remove the wheel splash guard.
2. Remove the RH fender splash shield.
3. Remove the 2 evaporator core housing nuts.
4. Remove the evaporator core housing.
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure and note the following: 
   
   
   Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil or equivalent. Install new O-ring seals.

   Lubricate the coolant hoses with plain water only, if needed.

   Tighten the 2 evaporator core housing nuts to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).

   Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system.

   After the evaporator replacement add 1.5 fl oz (45 ml) added to the amount collected during refrigerant recovery.

   R-134a Refrigerant Fill Capacity: 2.07 lbs.
