Transmission in reverse, acts like its in neutral?

The Problem noticed on Oldsmobile 2001 car model.

The gears shifts to drive/forward model and runs fine. But when in reverse it seems like its in neutral mode.

As per the details mentions the troubleshooting is as follows :---

Reverse is not electronically engaged, so when reverse fails it is always due to a mechanical failure. This will require a rebuild or replacement of the transmission.

Its not dangerous to drive the vehicle in this state. But advisable to get it repaired to avoid further damage to transmission related components.

You are typically looking at around $1600 for a rebuild with a good warranty.
Before spending such huge amount on 2001 year car.Its advisable to get the cars condition inspected. If the car is maintained well then spending such amount is advisable.Otherwise not.

This details will help.
Thanks.

Delayed shift and harsh Shifting?

The Problem noticed on Buick Rendezvous model of year 2003.

In this case the vehicle shifts gears  late and its shifting hard. But once the vehicle gets warm by running few miles it shifts good. Also check engine light comes ON,when gear shift issue starts.

On basis of this description the details to troubleshoot the problem is as follows :---

First of all check the transmission fluid. If the fluid level is low, then it can be the issue.Fill the fluid to its exact level.
But if fluid is checked full or its not empty then fluid is not the case.

Then it,Sounds like transmission control problems. There may be codes set in the computer, as not all transmission related trouble codes will cause the check engine light to come on. The most common problem is failure of the pressure control solenoid in the transmission. This can cause delayed shifts and can also cause harsh shifting when the transmission does shift. The problem may reset after cycling the key off and then restarting the vehicle. It would be best to have the computer trouble codes checked to confirm this before replacing the pressure control solenoid.

Getting this mentioned possibilities checked will help.
Thanks.

Adjust Hydraulic Lifters?

The details are for Chevrolet c20 truck of year 1991.

There is no lash on the lifters, as these are hydraulic lifters. To correctly adjust these lifters follow the procedure below.

1. Remove the rocker arm cover.

2. Crank the engine until the mark on the vibration damper lines up with the center or "O" mark on the timing tab, and the engine is in the number one firing position. This may be determined by placing fingers on the number one valve as the mark on the damper comes near the "0" mark on the timing tab. If the rocker arms are not moving, the engine is in the number one firing position. If the rocker arms move as the mark comes up to the timing tab, the engine is in the number six firing position and should be turned over one more time to reach the number one position.

3. With the engine in the number one firing position as determined above, the following valves may be adjusted:

^ Exhaust: 1, 3, 4, 8
^ Intake: 1, 2, 5, 7

(Even numbered cylinders are in the right bank; odd numbered cylinders are in the left bank, when viewed from the rear of the engine.)

4. Back out the adjusting nut until lash is felt at the pushrod, then turn in the adjusting nut until all lash is removed. This can be determined by rotating the pushrod while turning the adjusting nut. When the play has been removed, turn the adjusting nut inward one full additional turn (to center the lifter plunger).

5. Crank the engine one revolution until the timing tab "0" mark and vibration damper mark are again in alignment. This is the number six firing position; the following valves may be adjusted:

^ Exhaust: 2, 5, 6, 7
^ Intake: 3, 4, 6, 8

6. Install rocker arm cover.

Grinding and Clunking noise?

The Problem noticed on Chevy Corvette Old model car.The Loud clunk and grinding noise from right rear side.

From the symptoms you described, sounds like the wheel bearings are failing in the right rear. The bearings are pressed into the rear trailing arm and require special tools to remove and install properly. The bearings must also be shimmed to achieve the proper preload/endplay at the bearings. This repair is generally best left to a professional.

Because of the complexity of the repair, expect to spend around $350-400 for parts and labor for this repair.

This details will help.
Thanks.

NO Brake Pressure?

The Problem Noticed on Pontiac Grand AM.

The brake is having pressure when engine is off,but when engine is on brake has no pressure at all.

On basic of this the details to troubleshoot this problem is as follows :----

First try this basic possibilities before confirming any part problem.

Bleed brakes and see if there is full pressure while engine is off .If yes then  the master cylinder is working. Once there is no more air in the lines turn engine on and try to apply the brakes.Do you have zero pressure to the floor.OR is braking properly for a while.
Basically  Pressure builds as you pump brakes while engine running, but if you notice engine stalling while holding brakes, throttled slightly to keep engine running . Check all brake lines for any air/ fluid leaks.

If its not helping then read further

If you have a good solid brake pedal with the engine off, but the pedal drops out with the engine running then you definitely have a bad brake booster. The engine stalling is also a symptom of a bad booster, due to a large vacuum leak.

The master cylinder is okay if it builds pressure with the engine off. When you remove the master cylinder to replace the booster, make sure you check to see if there is any leakage from the back of the master cylinder. If there is leakage you will have to replace the master cylinder too.

This details will help.
Thanks.
