2005 Toyota Sienna:Brake pedal Drops To The Floor?

The Problem Started After replacing brake pads.Now the Brake pedal just falls to the floor.

The pedal is very loose and has no pressure.

As per the problem,it clears that  problem is with master cylinder or brake calipers.


But  before we assume either caliper or master cylinder damage, we need to do a couple of basic checks.

This basic inspection test will help to confirm the exact cause of problem.
For this test / inspection procedure.
Pull the wheels, check that the brake hoses are not twisted. If ok, check that the pads are seated flush and engage the rotors flushly when someone pushes the brake pedal. If ok, check the calipers are not bolted up cocked at an angle.

But if all basic possibilities are getting checked ok, then you have to do a brake line clamp test. Use vise grips to lightly clamp in place about halfway up all the flexible brake hoses. Check the brake pedal. It should be firm. If not, then when you pushed the calipers in the master cylinder got damaged by the force of the backpressure or from sediment being pushed up into it. Replace the master cylinder.

If pedal is firm, then remove one clamp at a time and retest pedal. At whichever wheel you remove the clamp and brake pedal drops, that is the one that caliper is bad and needs to be replaced.

2000 Cadillac Catera: Heater control Valve Vacuum Line?

The Exact location for Vacuum line going through heater control valve.

It goes thru the firewall to the recirculation actuator vacuum solenoid on the hvac housing. you can access it by removing the glove box.

2004 Chevy Monte Carlo: It cranks But not Start?

The Engine will not start.The vehicle turns over but not starting.

First the basics needs to be tested.If all checked ok then test the voltage with the help of wiring diagram.

All troubleshooting and testing details with wiring diagram is mentioned below:------

First try this:----

when you turn the key to the on position, does the security light stay lit, blinks on and off, or goes off after about 10 seconds?

If Security light goes off after about 10 seconds then its good.This confirms that System is having power.


good on the security light. This means it is working ok.

the first thing to do is rather basic. Even though you have power to accessories, you could have either a loose battery cable or weak battery. So first thing, check the battery cables for both corrosion and secure connections. clean and tighten as needed.

Next, with voltmeter, check for at least 12 to 12.5v at the battery. If less than that, charge battery. If wont hold a charge, replace.

If ok, then you will need to start testing the starting system. check for 12v at the starter when someone turns key to start it. If 12v present replace the starter. If not, then starting circuit from starter back to ignition switch will need to be tested to find where voltage is lost.

Now, there is a crank(starter) relay in the engine compartment fuse/relay box. Before checking the the starter, I would swap the relay out with another one and see if it starts.

If not, then check starter for 12v and work your way back to ignition switch. Below is wiring diagram

1996 Dodge Grand Caravan: Parking Brake Cable Broken?

How to replace Parking brake cable.

When the cable is broken,it has to be replaced.

First you will have to confirm which parking brake cable is broken and then it has to be replaced.

which parking brake cable - right rear, left rear, intermediate(connects rear cables to front cable), or the front parking brake cable?

I will provide details for all of that.

The details with diagrams are as follows:-----


Here are directions to replace the broken cable:
FRONT PARK BRAKE CABLE

REMOVE
Raise vehicle on jackstands or centered on a hoist.
Manually lockout the automatic self adjusting mechanism of the park brake pedal assembly.
Remove the intermediate and left rear park brake cable from the park brake cable equalizer .



Remove the front park cable housing retainer from body outrigger bracket .. Cable is removable by sliding a 14 mm box wrench over cable retainer and compressing the three retaining fingers. Alternate method is to use an aircraft type hose clamp and screwdriver.

Once this is done Lower the vehicle.

For other parking brake cable removal,the details and diagrams are as follows:----

Remove the left front door sill molding.
Remove the left front kick panel for access to the park brake cable and park brake pedal assembly.
Lift floor mat for access to park brake cable and floor pan. Pull the seal and the park brake cable out of the floor pan of vehicle.

Pull park brake cable strand end forward and disconnect button from clevis. Tap cable housing end fitting out of pedal assembly bracket.
Remove cable retainer from the park brake pedal assembly bracket.
Pull park brake cable assembly out of vehicle through hole in floor pan.



The installing procedure is as follows:-----


INSTALL
Pass park brake cable assembly through hole in floor pan from the inside of the vehicle.
Pass cable strand button through the hole in the pedal assembly bracket.
Install cable retainer onto the park brake cable and then install cable retainer into pedal assembly bracket.
Install the end of the park brake cable into the retainer previously installed into the park brake pedal bracket.
Install cable strand button into the clevis on the park brake pedal mechanism.
Install the front park brake cable floor pan seal into hole in floor pan. Seal is to be installed so the flange on the seal is flush with the floor pan Fold carpeting back down on floor.
Raise vehicle.
Insert brake cable and housing into body outrigger bracket making certain that housing retainer fingers lock the housing firmly into place
Assemble the park brake cables onto the park brake cable equalizer
Lower vehicle and apply the park brake pedal 1 time, this will seat the park brake

2002 KIA Sedona: Car will not Start with OBD code P0340?

Yes OBD code P0340 can cause the no start condition for car.

Error code P0340 means problem with Camshaft position sensor A circuit bank 1.


While a bad cam sensor can be the cause of a no-start condition,
And the other possibility can be jumped timing belt which would also set the code for P0340.

The cam sensor is behind the upper timing cover:

You remove the upper timing belt cover to replace the cmp sensor. Takes about 30 minutes.

I would suggest removing the timing covers and verifying that the timing is correct and if it is, then replace the sensor. If not, then it needs timing belt job

To verify what is the correct timing,follow the procedure below:----
you have to remove the #1 spark plug, have someone turn the engine over by using a socket on the crankshaft pulley and turning clockwise while you have your finger over the #1 spark plug hole. When you feel air pushing your finger off the hole. It is at TDC(top dead center). Now look at the timing marks on the camshaft sprockets and on the crankshaft sprocket. They should line up as shown in the diagram I already provided.

The #1 spark plug is the one towards the firewall that is closest to the engine pulleys.

Cam sensor is only $45-55, depending upon store you go to. I would go ahead and replace it to start with, and if still no-start, then you thru the process to check the timing belt.

To replace camshaft position sensor its easy,you can do it.
you can do this yourself.
You will remove the 10mm bolts that hold the upper timing cover(there are 2 upper timing covers- remove the one closest to the front of the vehicle. when facing the belts it will be to your right). Once removed, remove the retaining bolts for the cam sensor, unplug it and remove. Install in reverse.
