How to Replace Vacuum Hoses?

Open the hood and locate the vacuum hoses.

Inspect for cracked or broken vacuum hoses throughout the engine compartment.

Spray vacuum hoses with carburetor cleaner while the engine is idling; listen for the engine idle to change.

Pull the leaking vacuum hose from the plastic or metal connecters. Be careful not to damage the plastic connector.

Slide the new vacuum hose onto the connectors.

Start the vehicle and retest to verify repairs. Check for proper vehicle idle speed. Generally, the specification for normal vehicle idle is found in the owner's manual.
