How to Replace a Windshield?

Locate the front windshield.

Inspect the windshield for cracks or shattering.

Remove any body trim pieces such as windshield moldings surrounding the outside lip of the glass.

Remove the windshield from its grove. It is best to use a special removal tool.

After the windshield is removed, remove the seal from its groove and thoroughly remove all broken glass.

Install a thin rope or draw cord around the weather stripping in the flange groove.

Use rubber lubrication to coat the seat for ease of installation.

With an assistant, position the glass and weather stripping over the windshield opening.

Have the assistant apply pressure to the outside of the windshield in the area where the thin rope is being removed.

Pull the rope from the inside of the vehicle out of the flange groove, while pressure is being applied.

Slowly pull the cord out from the entire edge of the windshield. Using your hand, make sure the weather stripping is being pulled over the flange and sealing the windshield.

Install all body trim pieces that were removed.
