How to do Disk Cleanup ?

Disk cleanup
The Disk Cleanup tool helps you free up disk space by searching your disk for unwanted files and temporary files that you can safely delete without problems. It can remove all of the following:

Files in the Recycle Bin.
Temporary Internet files.
Temporary Windows files located in the Temporary files folder.
Optional Windows components that you are not using.
Installed programs that you no longer use or wish to use.

To launch the Disk Cleanup tool via Start menu go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools

A dialogue window should now appear enabling you to select the drive you want to clean up. Select the required drive and click OK.

The specified drive will be examined and the amount of space you can potentially free up is calculated and displayed.

The results, showing the amount of space that can be recovered by deleting files a secific type of file that is not needed is then displayed on the Disk Cleanup tab as shown below.

Select the files and click Ok to remove these un-needed files.

Now that a Disk Cleanup has been performed your hard drive should perform slightly faster and have less clutter lying around.

I suggest you perform the disk cleanup tool every once in a while to ensure that your hard drive has a greater lifespan, never has any need to crash or come up with errors caused by unnecessary files, greater performance and increased productivity especially where it is needed most, in the workplace.
