How To Replace Accessory Drive Belts On Ford Ranger?

Adjustment



Specific to:
Ford Ranger 2008-2009
The engines are equipped with an automatic belt tensioner. No adjustment is possible or necessary.

Inspection



Specific to:
Ford Ranger 2008-2009
Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately.

Removal & Installation



2.3L & 4.0L Engines
Specific to:
Ford Ranger 2008-2009
On 2.3L and 4.0L engines, rotate the tensioner bolt counterclockwise and remove the belt.
