- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure.
- Drain the cooling system.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Properly discharge the air conditioning system.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
WARNINGThe fan clutch has left-hand threads.
NOTEMark one stud and the flexplate for installation reference.

- Remove the four nuts.
- Support the transmission with a floor jack.
- Remove the engine from the vehicle.
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Observe the following torques:
Engine mount nuts: 80 ft. lbs. (109 Nm)Transmission-to-engine bolts: 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm)Torque converter nuts: 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm)Manifold-to-dual converter: Y-pipe nuts: 30 ft. lbs. - Relieve the fuel system pressure.
- Drain the cooling system.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Properly discharge the air conditioning system.

- Support the engine with a floor crane using a spreader bar.
- Remove the two side transmission-to-engine bolts.
- Remove the four engine support insulator nuts.
- Remove the engine from the vehicle.
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Observe the following torques:
Torque converter nuts: 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm)Nine transmission-to-engine bolts 35 ft. lbs. (48 Nm)Oil filter adapter: 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm)Starter: 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm)Engine support nuts: 75 ft. lbs. (102 Nm)Exhaust front pipe: 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
CAUTIONIf the fuel supply manifold is used as a leverage device, damage may occur to the supply manifold. Care must be taken when working around the fuel supply manifold. - Relieve the fuel system pressure.
- Drain the cooling system.
- Drain the engine oil and remove the filter
- Properly discharge the air conditioning system.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
WARNINGRotating the crankshaft pulley bolt counterclockwise could cause a reduction in clamp load on the crankshaft pulley and timing sprocket, which may cause severe engine damage.

- Install the Engine Lifting Bracket on the LH side of the engine.
- Remove the heater tube front bolt.
- Install the engine lifting bracket using the previously removed bolt.
- Install the spreader bar to the engine lifting brackets.
- Position a floor jack under the bell housing of the transmission.
- Attach a floor crane to the spreader bar and remove the engine.
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Observe the following torques:
LH and RH engine insulator nuts: 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm)4 exhaust manifold-to-dual converter: Y-pipe nuts: 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).Transmission-to-engine bolts: 35 ft. lbs. (47 Nm)Torque converter nuts: 35 ft. lbs. (47 Nm)Starter motor bolts: 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
