The details to remove and install Toyota Control panel is as follows:----
- Disconnect the cable at the negative battery terminal. Wait at least 90 seconds once the battery cable is disconnected to perform any work. This will hinder the air bag from deploying.
CAUTION
Models covered by this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as described in this section.
- Remove the lower finish panel.
- Unscrew and extract the No. 2 heater air duct.
- Disconnect the A/C control cables from the heater unit and cable guide.
- Unscrew and remove the upper console panel.
- Remove the center cluster panel.
- Remove the control panel screws and pull the unit from the dash until the wiring connectors are exposed.
- Disconnect the wiring.
To install:
- Attach the wiring to the back of the control unit.
- Position the control assembly into the dash and secure with the retaining screws.
- Install and secure the center cluster finish panel and upper console panel.
- Attach the control cables and adjust.
- Install the No. 2 heater air duct and lower finish panel.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Reset any electrical components such as the radio and clock.
- Remove the upper console panel.
- Remove the instrument cluster finish panel
- Release the 2 fitting claws and pull out the heater control assembly.
- Using a screwdriver, open the claw of the cable clamp and disconnect the defroster damper control cable.
NOTEBe careful not to bend the cable wire. If the cable wire bends, the heater control assembly operationally becomes worse. - Using a screwdriver, open the claw of the cable clamp and disconnect the air mix damper control cable.
- Disconnect the connector, remove the heater control assembly.
To install:
- Install the inner cable end of the air mix damper control cable to the heater control lever.
- Install the outer cable of the air mix damper control cable to the cable clamp.
NOTEBe careful not to bend the cable wire. If the cable wire bends, the heater control assembly operationally becomes worse. - Operating the heater control knob and check that it properly stops at both ends of MAX. COOL and MAX. HOT and no recoil is identified.
- Check that the outer cable should not be disengaged (moved) from the heater control assembly when the cable is pulled.
- Install the inner cable end of the defroster damper control cable to the heater control lever.
- Install the outer cable of the defroster damper control cable to the cable clamp.
- Operating the heater control knob and check that it properly stops at both ends of FACE and DEF and no recoil is identified.
- Check that the outer cable should not be disengaged (moved) from the heater control assembly when the cable is pulled.
- Connect the connector, install the heater control assembly.
- Install the instrument cluster finish panel
- Install the upper console panel.
