REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Step by step instructions with diagrams is as follows :---
- Remove or disconnect the following:
Front wheelBrake caliperGrease capSnapringWheel speed sensor and wire harnessSteering knuckle armLower ball jointUpper ball jointSteering knuckleAxle halfshaft
To install:
NOTE
Use new split pins, snaprings and circlips for assembly.
- Install or connect the following:
Axle halfshaftSteering knuckleUpper ball joint. Tighten the nut to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).Lower ball joint. Tighten the nut to 117 ft. lbs. (159 Nm).Steering knuckle arm. Tighten the bolts to 108 ft. lbs. (147 Nm).Wheel speed sensor and wire harnessSnapringGrease capBrake caliperFront wheel
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
Front wheelUnder cover - Drain the differential oil.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
Grease capCotter pin and lock capHalfshaft locknut by applying the brakesLower control arm from the lower ball jointHalfshaft from the steering knuckle, using a plastic hammerLeft strut, for the left halfshaftRight halfshaft, using a brass bar and a hammerLeft halfshaft, using tools 09520-01010 and 09520-24010Snapring from the inboard joint shaft
To install:
- Install or connect the following:
WARNINGBe careful not to damage the oil seal, boot or dust seal.
New snapring, onto the inboard joint shaft with the opening facing downwardHalfshafts to the differential using a brass bar and a hammerHalfshafts to the steering knuckles
Lower control arm to the lower ball joint using a new cotter pin. Torque the ball joint nut to 103 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).Halfshaft locknut by applying the brakes. Torque the nut to 173 ft. lbs. (235 Nm).Lock cap and a new cotter pinGrease cap - Refill the differential with oil.
- Install or connect the following:
Under coverFront wheel
