How To Replace AC Suction Accumulator On Ford Ranger?

The AC Suction Accumulator replacing details are as follows:---

Removal & Installation suction accumulator is as follows:---


NOTE
Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system, except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Recover the refrigerant.
  3. Disconnect the A/C cycling switch electrical connector. 
    NOTE
    Use a back-up wrench to prevent damage to the tubes.

  4. Disconnect the suction accumulator inlet and outlet fittings. Discard the O-ring seals.

  5. Remove the suction accumulator bracket screws and the suction accumulator.

  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure and note the following:

    Install new O-ring seals.
    Tighten the inlet fitting to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm).
    Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil or equivalent. Drill one 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) hole in the old suction accumulator or receiver/drier cylinder and drain the oil into a clean measuring cup. Add the same quantity of new PAG oil, plus the amount collected during refrigerant recovery and 60 ml (2 fl oz).
    Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system.
    R-134a Refrigerant Fill Capacity: 2.07 lbs.
