How to Replace Accessory Drive Belts On Ford F Series Trucks And Lincoln Mark?


The procedure is similar for both ford and Lincoln car models:-----

The Accessory Drive Belts Section contains details for 
4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L engines 6.0L engine, 4.2L engine details.

INSPECTION
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
DRIVE BELT ROUTINGS



Inspection

Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately.

Removal & Installation



4.2L Engine

  1. Rotate the tensioner counterclockwise and remove the drive belt.
  2. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

4.6L Engine
  1. Remove the engine cooling fan and shroud.
  2. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the accessory drive belt.
  3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

5.4L & 6.8L Engines
  1. Remove the air cleaner intake pipe.
  2. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the accessory drive belt.
  3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
6.0L Diesel Engine
  1. Remove the cooling fan.
  2. Remove the 4 bolts and cooling fan stator.

  3. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the accessory drive belt.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten the stator bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
