DRIVE BELT ROUTINGS
Inspection
Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately.
Removal & Installation
4.2L Engine
- Rotate the tensioner counterclockwise and remove the drive belt.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Remove the engine cooling fan and shroud.
- Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the accessory drive belt.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Remove the air cleaner intake pipe.
- Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the accessory drive belt.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Remove the cooling fan.
- Remove the 4 bolts and cooling fan stator.
- Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the accessory drive belt.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten the stator bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
