How to replace Flywheel On Ford Mustang?

The Flywheel Replacing Details for 2010 Ford Mustang and other years Mustang Models.


Flywheel
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Procedure is as follows:---

4.0L Engine
Specific to:
Ford Mustang 2009-2010
  1. Remove the clutch.
  2. Remove the 8 bolts and the flywheel. Discard the bolts.
To install:

NOTE
New flywheel bolts must be installed. They are a torque-to-yield design and cannot be reused.

  1. Position the flywheel. Install the 8 new bolts and tighten in the sequence shown in 3 stages.
    1. Stage 1: Tighten to 115 inch lbs. (13 Nm).
    2. Stage 2: Tighten to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
    3. Stage 3: Tighten an additional 90°.

  2. Install the clutch.
4.6L Engine
Specific to:
Ford Mustang 2009-2010
  1. Remove the clutch.
  2. Remove the 6 flywheel bolts.
    NOTE
    The flywheel has a pressed fit on the crankshaft pilot. Do not use screwdrivers or prybars to remove the flywheel or damage to the flywheel or engine may occur.
  3. Remove the flywheel.
    1. Install 2 of the removed flywheel bolts in the 2 holes shown on the flywheel flange.

    2. Tighten the 2 bolts evenly to push the flywheel off the crankshaft pilot.
To install:
  1. Position the flywheel on the crankshaft pilot and start the 6 flywheel bolts.
  2. Tighten the flywheel bolts evenly in the sequence shown to fully seat the flywheel on the crankshaft pilot. Tighten to 59 ft. lbs. (80 Nm).

5.4L Engine
Specific to:
Ford Mustang 2009-2010
  1. Remove the clutch.
  2. Remove the 8 flywheel bolts.
    NOTE
    The flywheel is a press fit on the crankshaft pilot. Do not use screwdrivers or prybars to remove the flywheel or damage to the flywheel or engine may occur.
  3. Remove the flywheel.
    1. Install 2 of the removed flywheel bolts in the 2 holes shown on the flywheel flange.
    2. Tighten the 2 bolts evenly to push the flywheel off the crankshaft pilot.

To install:
  1. Position the flywheel on the crankshaft pilot and start the 8 flywheel bolts.
  2. Tighten the flywheel bolts evenly in the sequence shown to fully seat the flywheel on the crankshaft pilot. Tighten to 59 ft. lbs. (80 Nm).
